HELLO SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!
27 February 2009
this week i have worked a total of 29 paid hours.
and i have 14 hours to go.
i declare myself as an unofficial full time worker plus 4 hours of overtime.
i really think this 29 hours of work is the most easiest work i've ever done.
so i am working for arc the student union right for 21 hours.
it's not free to become a member of arc.
it's a whooping $149 for the whole year.
but you obviously get a whole heap of benefits la like volunteering, free events/parties, free legal advice aka lawyer, cheap stuffs, discounts on campus and meeting new people.
the point is it's good if u actually use em.
i did, kinda i was a member last year.
and i did do like 2/9 of their volunteering programs.
haha. which is alright. cos i applied for 5.
one i got accepted but i had to backed out cos there was a clash on some stuffs.
two i got it but the coordinator had really bad communication problems so i was outdated and missed out.
third one i didn't get accepted.
so it's not my fault.
but the thing is $149 is pretty hefty and to actually fill up a form and be judged before doing something worth your membership is not very worth it.
so i won't be renewing mine this year.
PLUS if you haven't know already my timetable is probably jam packed with other stuffs i don't think there's any room for volunteering. :)
on the bright side,
the two volunteering program i partake last year was great.
i met lotsa people, including seniors, which i get to steal notes and study tips from.
and learned a whole heap of knowledge about the campus.
it's right on my fingertips right now seriously if any of you drop by UNSW one day i can take you on a personalised tour which includes the true and not so true facts. hahaha.
okay so back to my job.
yes since i was working for arc, my job for the past 29 hours was just to data entry the personal details of those ppl who signed up and process them.
i don't think there were many ppl who joined soo out of the 29 hours, i think i did real quality work only 4 hours of the time.
the rest of it - 25 hours - was spent sitting down squeezing stress balls or walking up and down getting freebies since its orientation week for freshies.
(i'm no longer a freshie hehehehe)
so its easy peasy work.
gaji buta. yup.
but its definitely not that fun.
honestly after working for sbucks for nearly 3 years now do i actually cherish the ppl i'm working with eventhough the whole customer connection is bullcrap.
damn i tell u this ppl i'm working with at arc is seriously mean.
like their manners kinda jumped off the bridge eons ago or something.
or they probably left it at home.
but now that it's over, i actually overcome 29 hours of unwork work.
which is pretty cool so now i'm waiting for my huge paycheck.
ahah.
talking about pay, i don't think i'm gonna get paid for the IT job (15 hours) this wednesday la.
cos i submitted the time sheet late like by 20 hours late!
and we get paid every fortnight for the IT job right, and weekly for arc and sbucks.
so now i have to wait another 2 weeks before i get them.
selenge betul la kau aqilah.
then again it's alright.
i guess. hmm.
okay so uni is coming.
i bought all my stationeries already.
ahh uni is damn expensive la k.
first year was cheap cos i can easily get cheap textbooks at the second hand store.
but second year onwards, mahal giler sey.
so i decided i'm not gonna buy them, i will only buy the one i seriously need. (:
and if i do need to refer to the textbook, they have what it call the library.
yes yes.
so here's what i settled on.
don't freak out cos things are very expensive here la k.
it's aligned with what we get paid so yeah
1) spanish language 1A 'nuevo di libro' or something $50
2) human anatomy colouring book $55
haha yeah sounds kindergartenish.
3) a new labcoat $25
cos i painted mine colourful last year and i think i'm over it already
4) parking permit $190
for the whole year which is not too bad. students generally don't get any parking here but since i'm a staff/student i'm at an advantage. normally parking fees per day is $12. soo $190 for the whole year is a cheapie. they're trying to promote the use of the very unreliable sydney public transport.
soo how much altogether?
i don't know la.
but it's alot right.
right. moral of the story is?
it's expensive being a uni student.
anyway i met some singaporean and malaysian students throughout this week.
most of them are first years which is cool.
i approach them usually haha cos i can tell. cheh.
but yeah they're usually open up when i tell them i'm from singapore if not they're usually just shy shy.
soo it's good to hear from them really.
i know how daunting it is soo i shall be nice and welcoming to them.
and they're happy! yay.
i msged yana noordin!!
damn i miss that girl.
oh and i'm loving this song.
eric hutchinson - rock and roll
ALSO lily allen - the fear!!!
very sempoi laaa. mcm chill je. haha good one sets the mood for the weekend!
okay then chill out everyone say WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO to the weekends!
have a good one :)
i love you, yes you!
